Dual Boot, want to change the default?
Scotty has provided the following info on how to change the Default Operating System (eg..from Vista to Windows 7).
It used to be done with a file called "boot.ini".
Click START..
Right click MY COMPUTER………
Left click PROPERTIES………
Left click "Advanced System Properties"…………
Left click in the new box….CONTINUE……..
Next to the section "Start up and Recovery", left click SETTINGS………
Under the heading "Default Operating System", click the down arrow (at the right)
Select which Operating system you wish to set as default (to boot to)
DONE!!
Beware Windows 7 "corrupts" the boot sector so do not attempt to use any non-Windows 7 partitioning software after Windows 7 has been installed.
Survey Results compiled!

John Jardine has compiled the results of a members' interests survey which can be seen here. We shall be using these preferences to design future workshops. Many thanks to John!
File Store up and running
If you want to download some free software programs to try out, or take a look at some training videos. Visit the Club's File Store which is available while you are at the Club. See menu entry on the left for details!
Take a chance and..Upgrade to Windows 7
When Windows 7 is released in October, many computer club members may be tempted to upgrade. Before doing so, take a look at the windows 7 upgrade chart. It looks as though our Hardware group will be experiencing quite a few headaches, starting with our club machines.
Windows 7 Release Candidate
A copy of Windows 7 Release Candidate is now available, on DVD, from the Club,
No need for a lengthy download from Microsoft. This Release Candidate will operate until around March 2010.
There is a dedicated section on the Club's Message Board for Windows7
Installation Key Numbers, issued by Microsoft, are listed there.
More info at the forthcoming talk on Windows 7.
Note: We have the earlier Beta version installed on our shuttlebox for everyone to play with.
Good news: it is quicker than Vista! Come to the Club and take a look.
FREE WIFI CONNECTIONS!
We are often asked if it's possible to 'log in' to a free WIFI connection anywhere in Javea. YES: PC Solutions (pass Barclays Bank on your right, few hundred metres, row of shops) have a free connection. Either sit in the Shop or outside in your car. Password is 0011223344 until Shop closing time. The Church square in the Old Town is also a free hotspot. Adverts for Bar Temptacions, Pensión Carrió and Atti antenistas appear now and again while you are surfing.
