´Ere we go Again
The summer season is now over and the Sol y Mar crowds have dispersed. The Computer Club gets going in full swinmg again this week with an open forum on Thursday to discuss where we are, and where we are going as a Club. Chris will lead the discussion at 11.00am.
The Club is developing a Wiki Website
The Club is in the process of creating a Wiki-based website(You'll know that if you are already here!!!). The advantages of a Wiki are that a) Many different people can contribute directly without messing up the format of the site b) It is easy to edit and add pages c) It can be the single location of all club information (eventually the weblog, other blog content, message board and main website will be all in one place) d) It will become a Club archive. At present the wiki site is undergoing development. As you can see, it looks a lot like the Club's current website, with menus and submenus pointing to different pages. In time we will be introducing new features.
Click on the "Forum" link in the left hand Menu to see how the new, wiki Message Board will look.
The Committee has decided on APASA (the Javea Dog's Home) as it's chosen Charity from June 2008.

The JCC sponsors a different charity each year (June to June). Last year we raised over 1500 Euros for Cancer Care (final amount will be totted up at the end of May). Starting from June we shall be supporting APASA, "Asociaciòn Protectora de Animales de San Antonio", the Jàvea refuge for abandoned dogs. This suffered badly in the October floods and urgently needs financial assistance.

Security for laptops at the JCC
Many members come to the Club to use our wireless Internet connection. Recently we have experienced problems with someone's wrongly configured laptop or rogue software creating an interfering connection. Members can do much to help themselves (and us) to avoid these problems and protect themselves from hackers. See the Club's Weblog for tips on how to protect yourself (thank to Peter Bayliss for posting this information)
Windows XP Service Pack 3 and AVG 8
This is now available on CD at the Club. We also have AVG Ver 8 (free version for members to copy to their memory sticks.
Eurocartridge
This company sells blank CDs, DVDs, Ink cartridges and small accessories at Pedreguer Rastro.
They do not have a shop but visit the Club every 2 weeks.
Next visit: TBA
Club Members can order stuff via their Website
